Synopsis:

Fiercely independent and smart, Zora Emerson wants to change the world. She’s excited to be attending a prestigious summer program, even if she feels out of place among her privileged, mostly white classmates. So she’s definitely not expecting to feel a connection to Owen, who’s an actual prince of an island off the coast of England. But Owen is funny, charming…and undeniably cute. Zora can’t ignore the chemistry between them. When Owen invites Zora to be his date at his big brother’s big royal wedding, Zora is suddenly thrust into the spotlight, along with her family and friends. Everyone is talking about her, in real life and online, and while Owen is used to the scrutiny, Zora’s not sure it’s something she can live with. Can she maintain her sense of self while moving between two very different worlds? And can her feelings for Owen survive and thrive in the midst of the crazy? Find out in this charming romantic comedy that’s like The Princess Diaries for a new generation.

REVIEW

5-stars

This book was so adorable! It gave me so many Meghan and Harry vibes. I enjoyed the setting of a castle style university! It was fun to see all the places they around campus that they took each other to throughout the book. As a prince it was important for him to have places to go where he wouldn’t be bombarded by people so it was fun to see where those places ended up being.

The “meet cute” in this book was perfect. I loved the way the two of them met and the story got started. It was unique. I loved the way that Zora and Owen meet so much! I was totally invested after that.

Zora’s passion for her community was one of the highlights of this book for me. I really enjoyed the programs that she helped to develop and I thought that it really lent so much to her character. She is so giving and thoughtful, always thinking of others. I also loved the relationships she has with her family and her best friend Skye! I always enjoy seeing positive relationships in YA contemporaries where you see conflict in other ways. They supported her in each way that she needed it. When she meets Owen she almost can’t believe someone like him would like someone who isn’t part of the spotlight or comes from money. I think it really showed that she is an ordinary yet extraordinary girl.

Owen was so adorable! He is portrayed as this playboy prince but when you meet him you only see this sweet guy who just wants to be able to live a somewhat normal life despite his pedigree. He was thoughtful and always tried to make sure Zora was comfortable with the chaos around his life. It was fun to see them get through the obstacles that come from being in a relationship with someone famous. I really liked him a lot!

This book was the perfect YA Contemporary!
