As soon as Jessica announced this book I was so so excited because I loved her debut of Love Songs & Other Lies released last year. This one definitely did not disappoint! If you want a fun YA Contemporary than I recommend you pick this book up! Order a copy, check it out from the library, anything! You won’t regret it!
A huge THANK YOU to Jordan at Heart of the Book Blogger for coordinating this blog tour with Jessica and the fantastic list of bloggers below! Make sure to follow her and all the other amazing people along this tour!
ABOUT THE BOOK
Title: When Summer Ends
Author: Jessica Pennington
Publisher: Tor Teen/Macmillan
Release Date: April 9, 2019
Synopsis
Aiden Emerson is an all-star pitcher and the all-around golden boy of Riverton. Or at least he was, before he quit the team the last day of junior year without any explanation. How could he tell people he’s losing his vision at seventeen?
Straight-laced Olivia thought she had life all figured out. But when her dream internship falls apart, her estranged mother comes back into her life, and her long-time boyfriend ghosts her right before summer break, she’s starting to think fate has a weird sense of humor.
Each struggling to find a new direction, Aiden and Olivia decide to live summer by chance. Every fleeting adventure and stolen kiss is as fragile as a coin flip in this heartfelt journey to love and self-discovery from the author of Love Songs & Other Lies.

REVIEW
I enjoyed this book so much! I read it as a buddy read with my sweet friend Katherine over at Smada Book Smack, make sure to check out her post tomorrow, and I think it made the experience even more fun! Both of us loved LS&OL and were so excited to read this one together!
Olivia is so adorable! From her first day working at River Depot in those awkward khaki shorts to her paddling her canoe down the river for the first time. She’s smart, quirky, and the perfect female lead for this fun and fluffy YA Contemporary. She’s forced to spend time with her mother who hasn’t been around much since she was younger and now has to work at the only job open this summer, River Depot. Little did she know she’d find love not only for a boy she’d never thought she’d get to know, but for the outdoors as well. This book made me so antsy for summer hiking and kayaking weather! I loved Olivia’s character throughout the entire book!
Aiden, sweet and adorable, Aiden. He is one of my new favorite YA Contemporary love interests. He is going through one of the biggest changes he’s ever had to face, has given up the thing he loves the most, and is now trying to navigate summer with the help of his friends at River Depot, and Olivia, the girl who’s boyfriend is the start catcher of the baseball team he’s been forced to give up. As Aiden tries to figure out how he’s going to get into the toughest art class senior year he finds himself falling for Olivia. The one thing he doesn’t know is that she’s kept a huge secret from him and now that summer is coming to an end neither of them know if they’ll make it.
This is one of my favorite contemporary reads of the year and I hope all of you will go out and pick up a copy!

ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Jessica Pennington is no stranger to the combination of love and drama. She’s a wedding planner, after all. A writer since the age of ten—when she sought publication for her poem about a tree—Jessica likes the challenge of finding the humor in a sad situation or highlighting the awkwardness in a romantic one. A serial entrepreneur with a B.A. in public relations, Jessica has a passion for grassroots marketing. She lives in a Michigan beach town, where she owns more YA novels than many teens and spends most of her time on a laptop, rather than on a beach.

Yes! But it was less heartbreaking than LS&OL. This was mush lighter!
