I initially won an ARC of this adorable book in a debut author giveaway back in January. I was so excited when Jessica and my good friend Kester formed the street team in preparation for the release of this adorable YA Contemporary.
A big thank you to Kester at lilbooklovers for inviting me to participate in the Love Songs & Other Lies Blog Tour! If you haven’t checked out his blog or chatted with him on social media than you are missing out! He’s such a fun person to have gotten to know and I can’t wait to see what other tours he puts out there for us!
Also, a huge thank you to Jessica Pennington! She’s been so wonderful to work with these past few months and I can’t wait to read her next YA Contemporary next year! She’s written a fantastic debut!
About the Book
Title: Love Songs & Other Lies
Author: Jessica Pennington
Publisher: Tor Teen
Release Date: April 24th, 2018
Genre: YA Contemporary Romance
Synopsis: It’s summer romance and second chances, the songs that stay in your head, and the boy you’ll never forget.
Two years after rock-song-worthy heartbreak, Virginia Miller is looking forward to a fun, carefree summer. Her friends just landed a spot on a battling bands reality show, and Vee is joining them for her dream internship on tour. Three months with future rockstars seems like an epic summer plan. Until she learns she’ll also be sharing the bus with Cam. Her first love, and her first heartbreak. Now Vee has more than just cameras to dodge, and Cam’s determination to win her forgiveness is causing TMZ-worthy problems for both of them. With cameras rolling, she’ll have to decide if her favorite breakup anthem deserves a new ending. And if she’s brave enough to expose her own secrets to keep Cam’s under wraps.

Dream Cast
I would definitely cast Hailee Steinfeld as Vee! I loved her in Begin Again where she played a teen who learns to connect with her father through music. While reading Love Songs and Other Lies I kept picturing her character from that movie and knew she was my pick for Vee’s character!
My pick for Cam is Alex Pettyfer. I loved him in Beastly and thought he’d do well playing the withdrawn Cameron Fuller!
My sweet and adorable Ansel Elgort is my Logan! He’s got the goofy and light-hearted personality that Logan has! I feel like he’d make for the most understanding of best friends and great lead singer!!
Nick Robinson is who I’d pick for Anders. He’s shy and genuine, a true friend! I feel like Nick’s roles have really shaped him into the character that just makes you smile.
Nat Wolff is my Reese! The prankster who wants to get all the attention from the ladies. I love his acting style when it comes to the adorable and funny sidekick and I feel like that is Reese’s character. He’s always up for playing tricks and getting people to do crazy things!
About the Author
Jessica Pennington is no stranger to the combination of love and drama. She’s a wedding planner, after all. A writer since the age of ten—when she sought publication for her poem about a tree—Jessica likes the challenge of finding the humor in a sad situation or highlighting the awkwardness in a romantic one. She lives in a Michigan beach town suspiciously similar to the one in her books, where she’s currently finishing her second novel, WHEN SUMMER ENDS, out April 2019.

Since this is the first casting I saw for LS&OL, I think I can’t see any other to play the role for these characters.❤;)

Awe! You’re the sweetest! 😍 I love doing castings! I did my first casting for Speak Easy Speak Love last year. I used to see movies every weekend but since joining the book community I don’t see many of them now. It’s fun to merge my love of movies with books!
